Easy American Girl Tights
You need a basic sewing machine, thread, and a pair (or one!) of knee high adult socks. I like socks with a bit of lycra in the fabric content. You will need about 4-5 minutes to sew the tights. 
Turn the sock inside out; measure down from the top to accomodate the doll's torso. It'll be roughly 4 inches.
Fold the sock flat, cut off the foot, and stitch down the center, twice, leaving a small space, about 1/8 inch, to cut open.
After stitching twice, cut the two legs apart. 
Fold the foot as pictured and stitch across, twice. 
Here's another view of the stitched foot.
Voila!! They're a good fit so some little hands might need help from larger hands to get these on the doll. They will NOT fall down!!
