Week Eight: Evening Framing

The two framers and the builder arrived at 6:30 PM, having gotten "stuck in traffic."  Doc said they could work until 8:00 PM.  That's our bedtime and I'm SURE our working neighbors would like some tranquility after working all day!

Edging, Back Garden Inherited

Leo is one of three gardeners on our street that is adopting some of the herbs and flowers from our edible garden in the back.  It's a wreck thanks to the construction.

Almost done! We need a few more scallops from the garden center.
Our next herbs and tomatoes will be in containers.  This was a fun garden but things change.

Making the Most of a Day Off

His workspace is invaded by lumber pack and windows for the Sun Room.  Can you see him?
 playing with his head light
 He's seriously working.
Then he chipped most of the fallen tree while I edged as far as I could until running out of Tom's gift of cement scalloped edging.  The back yard is still a total wreck!

Week Eight: Framing

The men had hoped to complete the floor today but...............oops, they ran out of the correct size lumber and will continue on Tuesday.  Hope it doesn't rain!!

Memorial Day Weekend

 Looking South
 Looking North
We still have lots of snow melt and the peaks are still white with snow.  It's a beautiful walk.
Elmer is explaining the framing process to Jeff.
Matthew, the builder, brought the windows.  To the far right you can see Jeff's choice.  My bay window choice is in front.  Can't wait!
Doc has a new project mower!

Relaxing

Long day is ending with steak on the grill, ipad, knitting, and tranquil evening.

Vapor Barrier

It appears to be complete; Daniel was working for several hours while we were chopping down the tree.

Cutting Down Dead Tree

Dennis just had to play too and managed to take the stump down to ground level.  Unfortunately, the video was too long to post.
So now, Doc has many hours of chipping to do.  Time for me to go knit!!!

Week Seven: Lumber Pack

Daniel will finish doing the vapor barrier tomorrow, providing it doesn't rain or hail!

Depending on the weather, the framers might be done by Sunday!  Then Doc can park his Baja in the garage again.  Right now, his side is full of supplies and the windows will join the pile of stuff this weekend.  Exciting!

He Bought Milk

Doc went to the grocery store before 7 AM because we were out of milk.  When he returned, I was in my sewing room starting the pattern to my new mitts.  He brought coffee, cinnamon roll, and strawberries to Santa's Workshop!  This is the BEST milk ever!

Hail and More Hail!

My phone said there's a 10% chance of rain. NOT!  We had rain and thunder, tiny hail, BIG hail, back to tiny hail, and now it's sunny and nearly dry!  We LOVE this climate!

Beautiful Irises, Light Rain

So far, it was a gentle and brief rain.  The plants are loving this!

Oops! Brain freeze!  And someone is getting the finger!!!  Glad it wasn't me!

Northern Catalpa Tree and Brief Rain

I trashed my sunglasses with Saturday's "kissing the sidewalk" and am sure that saved my lenses and forehead!
 These are glorious!
We have been waiting for the catalpa to start to leaf and we aren't disappointed!
It was just enough to water my gardens.
