Hand Knit Wool Socks

Early in January, one of the knitting blogs gave suggestions on how to help your hand knit socks last longer. Some of ours are 8 years old and I never gave extra care in washing them.  I'm using the recommendations: don't use fabric softener, do use cool or barely warm water in the washing machine, dry them on the light setting in the dryer.  Since we have SO MANY pairs each, I set aside the "dirty socks" and then wash a week or two pairs of socks in one load.
His pile is on the left, 10 pairs; 11 pairs of my socks are on the right.  This will continue until I forget!
